The Police here carry Glock 9mm
The Forest Rangers carry .45 cal revolvers for that reason.
BUT
Sh0gun doesn't need any of that, he rips them apart with his BEAR hands and eats them for breakfast !

Revolvers are fun for target practice, but VERY impractical as I've recently learned. The first and most obvious reason: reload time. For close combat situations, I'd always want an auto pistol. I've been taking a few pointers from a police officer in my neighborhood who is also a SWAT team member. He taught me a few things about preventing an attacker from taking your own pistol away from you. The standard two hand grip you'd use on the pistol to secure it won't injure your other non-shooting hand if you choose to fire. If you were to use the same hold on a revolver, the gas flash between the cylinder and barrel would rip your hand apart. He also invited me to attend a special silencer shoot with him hosted by Advanced Armament (I think) on September 19th and 20th. He was admiring my Tec 9 after he heard me shooting in the pasture behind our houses last week. At first I thought he was gonna whip out handcuffs and haul me off, but it turns out he's pretty cool. He wasn't really concerned that it's against the homeowners associations rules to discharge any firearms in the neighborhood (including pellet guns), LOL!!! He brought his .38 and was shooting too! I'm going to bring my Tec 9 and my .45acp. Hopefully he can hook me up with some silencers before we leave or at least someone there to sell me some for dirt cheap. Hopefully he'll let me play with some of his other high-powered assault rifles too.;D LOL tec 9 nice. Isnt that like an illegal gun? Well up here in Alaska it is. Man silencers are awesome. I thought they were only for feds only? That would be cool to shoot. When I shot an ak-47 I fell in love. I love that gun thirty round clip and it can be accurate too.

I love AK-47's I feel I am accurate with them. And as for the MP5-navy? Well 9mm rounds with a 30 round clip. Its definately a swat/anti-terrorist weapon. Having automatic and burst fire on it. I would say it doesn't do that well long range. I would rather have an AK any day. Or even a m4a1 carbine. Bigger rounds = more damage without having to be very accurate.

Revolvers are far more reliable than Semi Auto.
When a Semi Auto jambs, it can take minutes to get it working again.
The Forest rangers use revolvers for that reason. 1 .45 cal may piss a bear off, and then JAMB!!! OH OH ! With a revolver 6 .45 cal will do the job. I have had the opportunity to compete in shoot outs, using speed loaders. With practice, it's surprising how fast you can drop the empties and slam in another 6.
They also carry .45 Semi Auto as back up or their choice. The revolver is mandatory.
